The route focuses on Indonesian Borneo (Kalimantan), including Tanjung Puting, Central Kalimantan and the Derawan Islands in East Kalimantan. Arrive at Pangkalan Bun, meet your Jiwa Explore guide and transfer to your hotel. Welcome to Borneo, local orientation and a traditional Indonesian dinner.

Kumai – Tanjung Puting

Overnight on the klotok

Begin the adventure by traditional klotok boat along the river toward Tanjung Puting National Park, known for Bornean orangutans, proboscis monkeys, birds and other rainforest wildlife. Kumai River, Sekonyer River, jungle exploration and wildlife watching.

Orangutan & Camp Leakey

Overnight on the klotok

A full day in the rainforest. Visit Pondok Tanggui and Camp Leakey, one of the best-known orangutan research and conservation areas in Tanjung Puting. Orangutan observation, jungle walk, proboscis monkeys, birdwatching and an evening river cruise.

Tanjung Puting – Pangkalan Bun

Overnight: Pangkalan Bun

A final morning on the river before returning to Kumai. Sunrise on the river, wildlife spotting, return to Pangkalan Bun and a local village experience.

Overnight: Palangka Raya

Travel toward Palangka Raya, the capital of Central Kalimantan. Scenic journey, local market, city exploration and an introduction to Dayak culture.

Sebangau rainforest

Overnight: Palangka Raya

Explore the rainforest around Sebangau: boat journey, peat-swamp forest, jungle walk, wildlife observation and a local conservation experience.

Continue south toward Banjarmasin and the river culture of South Kalimantan. River journey, local villages and a traditional market.

Early morning visit to the Lok Baintan floating market. Continue with a cultural journey through South Kalimantan: traditional boat experience, local handicrafts and Dayak cultural experience.

Transfer by boat to Derawan Island. A relaxed afternoon on one of Kalimantan’s tropical islands: white-sand beach, snorkeling, coral reefs and sunset by the sea.

Island-hopping adventure. Kakaban is known for its jellyfish lake; Sangalaki is known for marine life including manta rays and sea turtles. Snorkeling and marine wildlife.

A final morning on the island: free time, beach walk and snorkeling, then boat transfer to Berau.
